Complete the Circle Event and Food Drive

 

This is an open call for the annual image / logo for the 2012 Complete the Circle Event.
The artwork should convey Our Daily Bread’s mission to “empower the community to help our neighbors maintain self-sufficiency.” There is a $10 submission fee and the artist who creates the winning design will receive a $200 cash prize. Our Daily Bread will be hosting Complete the Circle 2012 will be held on October 21, 2012 in Fairfax City 

 

What is Complete the Circle?

Our Complete the Circle image and event day was intended to promote unity and giving locally with food and staples donations that meet the basic needs of our community members. On the afternoon of Sunday, October 16, Our Daily Bread’s inspirational design (above left) was re-created as a “living painting” on a large field in Fairfax City, with more than 700 community members dressed in our color T-shirts and photographed from 80 feet above by artist Daniel Dancer of Art for the Sky. A celebration with refreshments and live music followed the sky photo shoot, featuring the lively, family-friendly music of Jake Armerding and The Fretful Porcupine.

Participants were asked to bring two or more non-perishable food or pantry items to be incorporated into the sky photo as the outer rim that encircles our living painting -- so that we will all literally “complete the circle” of giving to provide help and hope to local families and children in crisis facing hunger.  You brought almost 3,000 pounds of food. Surpassing our goal by 500 pounds!
